Clinton County Recent Arrest Records
Every Clinton County arrest starts with an agency event. The officer writes a report. Booking at the jail creates a separate custody record with a time stamp. That entry can hold the person's identifying details, the arresting agency, listed charges, bond figures when public, and any later release or transfer. A booking photo may be taken during intake. The county publishes no verified photo gallery or searchable roster on its official pages.
After intake, the records split. The Sheriff and jail keep county custody and booking material. City departments hold their own police reports. Once a case is filed, the Clinton County Circuit Clerk holds the court file, which can show dismissed charges, amendments, or another outcome. Each office answers a different question.
Clinton County arrest records stay available to the public through official county and state channels.
What Clinton Booking Records Show
Clinton County posts no official field dictionary. Illinois arrest-information law offers a baseline for what booking records contain. Unofficial pages show extra fields that are not the county's own schema.
| Field | What it may show |
|---|---|
| Name, age, address | Basic identifying data, subject to privacy limits |
| Arrest time and place | When and where the arrest was reported |
| Arresting agency | Sheriff, city police, state police, or another agency |
| Charges as booked | Initial alleged offenses, which can later change |
| Custody events | Time received, discharged, or transferred |
| Photo if available | A booking image when created and legally releasable |
| Bond or court data | Public terms or case references when supplied |
Third-party pages sometimes add a booking ID, race, sex or gender, an image, and a view count. A blank field proves nothing about the jail. It only reflects what that publisher chose to show.
No Public Clinton Arrest Roster
The Clinton County Sheriff's page lists Sheriff and jail contacts. It offers no custody search or booking table. There is no downloadable log or inmate-search app. That makes timing the real question for anyone tracking an arrest. There is no county feed to choose between. To check current custody, call the jail at (618) 594-4556. Ask whether the person is held, released, or transferred. For an arrest record or photo, file a written FOIA request.
| Possible search field | Official online status | Fallback |
|---|---|---|
| Name | No public field verified | Give full name to jail or FOIA officer |
| Booking number | No public field verified | Include it if already known |
| Date or charge | No public field verified | Supply date range and agency |
| Photo | No public display verified | Request any available non-exempt image |
When Clinton Arrests Appear
Illinois law gives news media arrest information within 72 hours, sooner when practical, photo included when one exists. That clock governs the press, not a website. Clinton County posts no feed schedule, weekend hours, or roster cadence. Persistence periods are unpublished too.
The unofficial RecentlyBooked Clinton County page claims multiple refreshes per day and a rolling 30-day window. Its timestamps mark the compiler's updates. They may not match booking times or current custody. The page's own Clinton County list displays the update details it publishes.

Confirm each name with the jail and the court.
Daily and Weekly Arrest Windows
No countywide 24-hour view or weekly blotter exists for Clinton County. Separate pages walk through the best available sources. None of them is an official county feed.
| Window | Best route | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Same day | Daily Arrest Report | No official county 24-hour feed or fixed posting time |
| Several days | Weekly Arrest Log | Sources combine city logs, journalism, and secondary pages |
| One person over time | VINELink Inmate Check | A fresh intake or unsupported event may not appear at once |
A name vanishing from a rolling page can mean release, transfer, a correction, or simple expiration from the window. It never proves release. The jail answers that question by phone.
City Arrest Statistics Are Different
Centralia keeps a Police Activity and Press Log archive plus statistics with an "Adult Arrests (State Criminal Chgs)" category. That is a city count. Clinton County publishes no annual jail-booking total. A city police figure can never stand in for county bookings.
The Centralia archive holds that department's dated reports. Keep the source and unit attached to every number.
Where Clinton Arrest Mugshots Appear
Start with official sources. Clinton County's Sheriff page shows no roster or mugshot gallery. A written records request is the official route to any booking photograph. IDOC keeps photos for people in state custody. Public display depends on the current locator and disclosure rules.
| Channel | Photo | Status and access |
|---|---|---|
| Clinton Sheriff or FOIA | Ask if available | Official county custodian; written request may be required |
| IDOC search | May depend on current result | Official state custody, not fresh county booking |
| RecentlyBooked | Often | Unofficial 30-day compiler; may lag or omit entries |
| Busted Newspaper | Often | Unofficial county section; accuracy not guaranteed |
| Mugshots.com | Possible | Illinois navigation found; local availability was inconsistent |
| Local news | Story dependent | Journalism, not a complete custody list |
No faces are rehosted here. A third-party image can linger after release or after the record changes, so weigh it against the court file.
Social Mugshot Rules in Illinois
Illinois restricts law-enforcement social posting of booking photos for certain civil, petty, business, Class C, and Class B misdemeanor cases, with exceptions for wanted, fugitive, missing-person, or person-of-interest notices. That limit is not FOIA. It also does not bind private publishers.
The Sheriff page links Facebook. It never calls Facebook a full arrest or photo feed. The official 5 ILCS 140/2.15 text sets out the arrest-information rules and exceptions. The same Illinois statute is the legal source for these posting limits.

The statute is the authority; a social post or aggregator summary is not.
Request a Clinton Arrest Record
Sandra Basler serves as FOIA Officer for Clinton County. Send written arrest-record requests to her at the Clinton County Courthouse, 850 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. The phone number is (618) 594-6645. The county offers no booking-photo form, no set fee, and no promised turnaround for these requests.
- Identify the full name, approximate arrest or booking date, and arresting agency.
- Ask for the non-exempt arrest and booking record, custody dates, public bond data, and any booking photograph if available.
- Request electronic delivery and a fee estimate. Illinois arrest-record fees may not exceed actual copying and reproduction costs and may not include labor to reproduce the record.
- Ask the agency to cite the legal basis for any redaction or withholding.
- Use the Circuit Clerk for the later case outcome, not as the jail-photo custodian.
Centralia and Breese each set their own police-request rules and copy fees. Those city schedules do not create a county charge for a Clinton County jail booking photo. Direct each arrest-record request to the custodian that actually holds the record.
Juvenile and Withheld Arrest Details
Illinois law shields juvenile records from public view. Withholding is also allowed where disclosure could disrupt a pending matter, endanger someone, or weaken jail security. Victim and witness details, Social Security numbers, medical facts, sealed files, and other protected data can be removed too.
The 2024 jail inspection listed zero juvenile beds. That figure only describes the housing setup inspectors saw. It says nothing about whether a juvenile arrest record exists or whether juvenile information can be published.
Bond and Release Need Confirmation
Clinton County posts no bond schedule and no bond-out timing rule. Bond is a condition a court sets for release while a case moves forward. Someone can walk out of jail. The arrest and court file stay public. An old booking photo can also linger online long after release.
For current release or transfer details, call the jail. The Circuit Clerk can speak to filed case activity and court orders. Do not read bond status into a missing listing. Never assume a booking page still means the person is in custody.
After a Clinton County Arrest
A Clinton County case usually runs from arrest to booking, a first court event, release or detention terms, further hearings, and final disposition. Timing depends on the charge, any warrant, weekends, custody status, and court orders. The county makes no promise about when an arraignment appears online.
The Circuit Clerk resource page links the Judici search. When the online interface comes up short, call the Clerk at (618) 594-6615. Court fees sit apart from jail-record fees, so confirm amounts before paying. The Judici Clinton County case-search interface is available directly.

The court search continues beyond booking and is the place to check the disposition.
Centralia Arrests Cross County Lines
Centralia straddles the Clinton and Marion County line. One Centralia arrest tells you nothing about the receiving jail. Ask which agency made the arrest. Ask which county's charge or warrant controls, and where booking happened. The answer may point to Clinton County, Marion County, or a different custodian entirely.
The Centralia Recent Arrests page walks through the city-specific path. When comparing a police log against a booking page, keep the agency together. The charge county and facility should stay in the picture too.
Clinton Arrest Warrants and Wanted Lists
Clinton County runs no public warrant portal or official most-wanted page. The Sheriff page says deputies serve warrants. It offers no searchable list, no photo schedule, no reward promise, and no dedicated warrant unit. Judici may show case activity. But it cannot certify whether a warrant is active, recalled, quashed, or held for another county.
Call the Sheriff at (618) 594-4555. Or call the Circuit Clerk at (618) 594-6615. An attorney can inquire as well. For a public-safety tip, the Sheriff page lists crimestoppers@clintonco.illinois.gov. It promises no anonymity, reward, or reply time. Never approach a wanted person. Anyone touched by a possible warrant should turn to counsel or the court, not a third-party wanted label.
No Clinton Booking App Found
The official Sheriff page links a Facebook account but names no jail-information or inmate-search app. Breese and Carlyle run CodeRED systems for emergency and community notices. Those are not booking records. Neither should pass for an arrest feed.
Illinois VINE is the statewide alert option. It can send custody and court-event notices through participating systems. Clinton's public pages do not document every jail data connection. Start with the VINELink Inmate Check. Then confirm anything missing with the jail or Clerk. The Illinois Attorney General VINE page describes the official service.

VINE is a notification tool, not a booking-photo gallery or records request.
Local Arrest News Is Secondary
Southern Illinois Now posts recurring text-first Police Beat items. They carry arrest, charge, location, agency, transport, or custody details when supplied. The Breese Journal is a weekly local paper. The Belleville News-Democrat covers selected regional crime stories. The Centralia Morning Sentinel reports local news. None of these equals a full county jail roster.
Read every news item by its publication date. Check it against the named police agency, the jail, and the court. Stick to words like arrested, booked, accused, or charged until a court disposition justifies more. A name left out proves nothing about whether an arrest happened.
Clinton Jail History and Custody
The 2024 IDOC inspection places Clinton County Jail at 810 Franklin Street in Carlyle. The facility was built in 1966. It was renovated in 1995. Capacity is 53 beds, and the inspection counted 46 residents on that date. Those numbers are one snapshot. They are not a live count, roster, or vacancy figure.
Centralia Correctional Center is a separate IDOC state prison sitting inside Clinton County. Sharing a county does not make it part of the county jail. A fresh arrest search starts with the arresting agency. The county jail comes next. IDOC matters only after someone enters the state-custody or parole records its locator covers.
State and Federal Arrest Custody
The IDOC Individual in Custody Search gives state-custody facts. It lists name, IDOC number, institution, status, dates, and sentence details. Illinois keeps custody photos internally, though. Public display depends on the current locator and the state's disclosure rules. For an IDOC look, start at the official IDOC search page.

State and federal systems each cover their own turf. The IDOC locator tracks state custody and parole, not every Clinton County arrest. The federal Bureau of Prisons locator lists people in BOP custody. But it is no county photo feed. The U.S. Marshals Service rarely releases prisoner photos to the public, except for law-enforcement aims. ICE runs its own detainee locator, and it wants specific identifiers. Pick whichever system actually holds the person.
Correct or Remove Arrest Information
Clinton County posts no local booking-photo takedown policy. Fixes start with the arresting agency or the court. Illinois law allows corrections for certain mistaken-identity arrest records. It also bars publishers of criminal-record information from taking payment to remove, correct, or modify anything. Never pay a removal service.
For third-party copies, use the publisher's documented free route. RecentlyBooked takes no-fee requests on listed grounds and asks for the record URL, name, arrest date, county, reason, and any supporting documents. Busted Newspaper offers a correction or removal form. Mugshots.com Record Maintenance describes a no-fee document process. Arrests.org lists no Clinton-specific route. The similarly named Mugshots.zone page concerns Iowa, not Clinton County, Illinois.
Correct the source first. Then use a search engine's outdated-content process for stale snippets. Deindexing never changes the official record.
Expungement and Sealing Paths
The Illinois State Appellate Defender supplies standardized expungement and sealing forms that Illinois courthouses accept. Expungement aims to destroy or erase qualifying records. Sealing limits public access, but the event still happened on paper. Eligibility and waiting periods turn on disposition and record history. Offense type, later cases, and statutory exceptions matter too. No single waiting period fits every Clinton County arrest.
Start with the OSAD forms and worksheet. Then confirm filing rules and current fees with the Clinton County Circuit Clerk. Once a judge signs an order, send it to independent publishers. Their free maintenance channels handle the update. Mistaken criminal identity has its own OSAD guidance path. That route may require the arrest number, date, agency, charge, and proof of identity theft.
Older Clinton Arrest Records
A page vanishing online does not destroy the government record. Clinton County posts no Sheriff booking-photo retention term. Illinois local records may be destroyed only under an approved records schedule. When an older item drops offline, ask the Sheriff or FOIA officer. Request the record-series name and its schedule.
For historical digging, try the Illinois State Archives and the Clinton County IRAD paths. They can point to transferred records. Their indexed holdings list no Sheriff booking series, which limits the search but proves nothing. Save the source URL and date first. Ask the county. If the item was destroyed or transferred, request the schedule. Then try the archive reference channel.
Recent Arrests by Clinton City
Municipal records stay agency-specific, even when a person is later booked into Clinton County Jail.
- Centralia Recent Arrests: check Centralia Police sources and confirm which county received the person because the city crosses the county line.
- Breese Recent Arrests: use Breese Police records and its published request form, then confirm any county-jail booking.
- Carlyle Recent Arrests: confirm police records procedures directly and use the Clinton County jail or FOIA fallback for a county booking.
Match before merging. Agency, arrest date, booking destination, and court county should all agree before two entries count as one event.
